Vela
Brand, app and website for an AI mindset app that writes a new meditation for every user, designed and built end to end.
Challenge
Most meditation apps are libraries: thousands of pre-recorded sessions written for everyone, and therefore for no one in particular. Visualization works best when it describes your own home, family and goals, and generic audio rarely lands.
Approach
Vela takes the opposite approach. Users tell the app about their goals, the people who matter to them and the life they’re building, and Vela writes and voices visualizations, pep talks and affirmations just for them.
I owned the product end to end: the brand, 50+ screens and the design system, the motion language, and the mobile app itself, built in Flutter for iOS and Android on a Django backend. Onboarding builds a Living Profile that feeds every session; the waiting screen during generation is designed as part of the ritual; the player supports lock screen and AirPods controls so users can close their eyes.
Result
Vela grew from personalized meditations into a broader mindset companion with pep talks, journaling, mood tracking and daily affirmations. More than 1,000 people have registered and generated over 2,000 meditations. Several reviewers say they had never connected with meditation before Vela.
